Teacher: Good morning, dear English-speaking friends!  Welcome to our Easter Party. We hope that you’ll have a nice time! Today we are going to speak about British traditions to celebrate Easter. You will play different games, recite poems and sing songs !  But first of all, a few words about the history of Easter.
II  Main Part
Student 1: In England Easter doesn’t fall on the same date every year, but rather on any Sunday from March 22nd to April 25th.  It is celebrated on the fist Sunday after the full moon in March.
Student 2: The week before Easter is called Holy week and it begins with Palm Sunday. On Holy Thursday Christians celebrate the last Supper Jesus’ last meal with his apostles. Good Friday refers to the day Jesus was crucified and following Sunday. Easter Sunday celebrates Jesus resurrection.
Student 3: In Britain Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs. But Easter means much more. It is the oldest and the most important Christian Festival, the celebration of the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. For Christians the dawn of Easter Sunday with its message of new life is the high point of the year.
Student 4: In Ukraine we say “Христос Воскрес” and respond “Воістину Воскрес” and what about the English exclamation  on Sunday Easter?
Students: Christ is risen!—Indeed, He is risen!
Teacher: Dear friends, do you know any Easter symbols?
Who it is? Yes, it is a rabbit.
Rabbit: I am the Easter Rabbit. My name is Bunny, I am from Great Britain. I’ve got a basket.
I’m a little bunny soft and sweets
Here are my ears and here are my feet.
When I’m in the garden, I look for trees
And nibble on all I like to eat.
Student 1: What are there in your basket?
Rabbit: There are some eggs in my basket. They are blue, red, green. Some are hard-boiled, some are chocolate. On Easter Sunday families and friends exchange their eggs or give them to each other as a symbol of new life.
Student 2: All around the world, many children believe that Easter Bunny brings eggs and hides them for children on Easter morning. There are many different legends about Easter Bunny but here is the popular one.
A Legend about Easter Eggs.  Acting out the legend.
Storyteller: Long ago in Germany there lived an old woman who loved children. Each year she gave presents to children to celebrate spring. (An old woman comes to the stage)
Old woman: Oh! Spring! My favourite season! How bright the sun is shinning! How wonderful flowers! I want to celebrate spring. But I don’t want to do it alone! Children, come here. I’ve got some presents for you. (The children come to the woman. She gives them something.)
Old woman: It is for you! It’s a present for you! (She gives presents)
Storyteller: But one year she had nothing to give because it was a bad year and she    became very poor. All she had were some eggs.
Old woman: Every year I give children presents to celebrate spring. But this year is very bad: we have nothing to eat and we are very poor. I have nothing to give  my poor children! What shall I do? Oh! I have some eggs. I shall color  them and hide them in the yard.
Old woman: My dear children, go to the yard and  find your presents there.
(Children begin to find eggs)
Child: Look! A rabbit! Oh,  I know  that this rabbit brought us eggs!
Rabbit: I’m hunting, I’m hunting
           I’m hunting for the eggs.
Have to find the Easter eggs now,
           I’ve already picked up nine.
Fill the basket, fill the basket,
           Fill the basket every time.
Candy eggs and jelly beans are tucked
           Behind each growing pine.
Storyteller: So the children thought that the rabbit had left the eggs for them! And ever since, children have searched for eggs left by the Easter rabbit on Easter morning. It is called the Easter Egg Hunt.

Reciting Poems
(Children read poems about Easter Rabbit and sings a song “Happy Easter lyrics”)

Easter Rabbit
Look over here and look over there
Little candy Easter eggs are everywhere
Who’s the one who hides them there?
Little Bunny hides them everywhere.
Little Easter Bunny goes hopping, hopping
Little Easter Bunny goes hopping, hopping
Little Easter Bunny goes hopping, hopping
Little Easter Bunny goes hop, hop, hop!
Easter Bunny
Easter Bunny soft and white
Hopping quickly out of sight.
Thank you for the eggs you bring
At Easter time to welcome spring.
Yellow eggs and blue and red
In the grass and flower bed
We will hunt them everywhere
Is it really you who put them there?
Easter Bunny
Bunny, Bunny , Bunny, you’re so funny
With your twitching nose.
Bunny, Bunny , Bunny, you’re so funny
From your hear to you toes.
Bunny, Bunny , Bunny, your ears are funny.

Everyone loves you!

Playing Games
Student 1: There are many Easter games in Britain: Rolling Eggs, Hiding and Hunting eggs, Eggs and Spoon Race, Throwing Eggs up, Knocking Eggs together.  Would you like to play? (Children play games Rolling Eggs, Hiding and Hunting eggs, Eggs and Spoon Race )

A Legend about the Hot Cross Buns.  Acting out the legend.
Student 2: People eat Hot Cross buns on Good Friday. It is the day before Easter. There is a white cross on a bun. Look! These are Hot Cross Buns. Let’s listen to a legend about the hot cross buns.
Storyteller: Once  long ago in England there lived a monk.
Monk: I go round my town, along the streets and see many poor families living together in tents. Easter is in two days and on that great holiday families shouldn’t go hungry. What should I do for them?  A baker’s shop... Oh, I know! I’ll bake a great many spiced buns with raisins inside! I’ll decorate them with a cross and give them to the poor families.
Storyteller: So he did. Then he saw a little boy nearby.
Monk: What’s your name, my little boy?
Boy: Giles.
Monk: Do you want my buns, Giles?
Boy: No, I don’t, thank you. I don’t want charity. Could you bake me a basket full of buns that I can sell?
Storyteller: The boy was in ragged clothes and had a dirty face. The monk felt sorry for him. But the boy had pride.
Monk: All right, I’ll bake you a basket of the buns.
Storyteller: That Easter morning Giles took his basket and went from house to house, singing a song.
Hot cross bun ! Hot cross buns!
One a penny, two a penny
Hot cross bun !
If you have no daughter
Give them to your son
One a penny, two a penny
Hot cross buns!
Boy: Oh, I’ve sold all the buns and now I have some money! But there are so many poor people. I’ll go to church and put them in the poor box. (The boy puts some money in the box  “Charity”)
Storyteller: And so he did. That boy had a very kind heart. So this day children all over the world sing that song and eat small buns.  (The children sing song “Hot Cross buns”)
